This month, members from OIC Philadelphia, including our President and CEO, Sheila Ireland, had the privilege of meeting with the leadership team of OIC Cameroon, Gilbert and Marie. Established in 1986, OIC Cameroon has trained 25,871 people. Currently, more than 1,500 students are enrolled on campus in their various job training programs, including: culinary arts, auto mechanics, metal fabrication, welding and spray painting, building construction, plumbing and domestic electricity, textile and fashion design, woodwork and furniture construction, information and communication technology. OIC Philadelphia is so proud to recognize the legacy of Reverend Dr. Leon Sullivan, that continues to have an impact around the world.
Thanks to the steadfast support of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority (PCCA), OIC Philadelphia is thrilled to launch a comprehensive marketing and advertising campaign on SEPTA throughout the city of Philadelphia. This campaign is designed to not only increase the number of participants in OIC Philadelphia programs, but to increase brand awareness as we approach our 60th anniversary in 2024.
A huge congratulations to our new Director of Admissions, Alida Padilla-Curry. Alida has been a dedicated Workforce Program Manager at OIC for the last six years and she is eager to serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking opportunities at OIC Philadelphia.
This summer, OIC's Hospitality Training Institute class took a field trip to volunteer at Sharing Excess; an innovative organization focused on building a more sustainable and equitable food system. OIC students had the opportunity to volunteer their time, sorting through boxes of fruits and vegetables to prepare for distribution.

announce the election of Steven Scott Bradley to Chairman of the Board. This transition comes as OIC Philadelphia approaches its momentous 60th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the organization's commitment to empowering individuals through education, training, and employment opportunities.

Celebrating 60 years of scientific innovation, the Science Center will honor four individuals who have demonstrated leadership in fostering a more innovative, collaborative, and equitable future during its annual Nucleus Awards, presented by CSL. Ms. Ireland is honored to receive this as OIC expands its' programming in the STEM industry.
"We aim to be a leading economic and community partner whose diverse workforce both reflects and respects our customers and our communities — the towns where we live and work, too. PECO supports regional workforce development initiatives to build the energy workforce of the future. That includes teaming up with organizations such as Philadelphia OIC to increase exposure and access to emerging job opportunities within the energy industry."
As a workforce development organization, OIC's primary goal is to connect people to meaningful employment opportunities.
